German student group supports Grass criticism of Zionist regime

Berlin, Apr 21, IRNA -- A German student organization on Saturday voiced solidarity with Nobel Prize-winning author Guenter Grass for his strong criticism of the Zionist regime.

The leftist student group, International Students for Social Equailty (ISSE), stressed Grass' recent anti-Israeli poem was not anti-Semitic as alleged by the Zionist lobby.

It made clear that the main points of Grass' criticism of the Zionist regime being

a warmonger were 'justified and correct.'

ISSE lambasted the ongoing Zionist media campaign against Grass and his supporters

aimed at muzzling critics of the illegal Jewish state.

It also lashed out at the US and Germany for supporting Israel's warmongering

policies.

Unlike the German government, most Germans back Grass for his fierce criticism of

the Zionist regime, according to a survey released earlier this month.

The 84-year-old 1999 Nobel laureate made international headlines for daring to

speak out against Israel, saying it was the biggest danger to international peace.

Thousands of people took to the streets in 80 German cities over the Easter holiday weekend as part of the country's traditional Easter peace marches to express support for Grass who has faced the wrath of the Zionist regime and its German lobby for his unprecedented criticism of Israel.

As Germany's most prominent contemporary writer, Grass is widely regarded as a living literary legend but also a moral authority in the country.
