Istanbul, Turkey.-The Syrian Coalition calls on the United Nations to condemn massacres carried out by Assad’s forces against civilians in Syria. In an attempt to break the will of the Syrian people and crush their Great Revolution, Assad’s regime is systematically destroying populated areas in Aleppo and other provinces across Syria.
As a commander in chief, Bashar Assad is personally responsible for genocide against the Syrian people during the two and a half year Revolution.
Yesterday evening, Assad’s forces committed a massacre in Al Nairab neighborhood, Aleppo killing 35 and wounding dozens when ground to ground missiles fell on the densely populated neighborhood.
As UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon earlier said, over 100.000 people killed in Syria up from nearly 93,000 just over a month ago. 7000 people were killed in just one month. Most of them were killed during Holy Ramadan.
Since the beginning of this month, Assad’s forces have committed at least 8 massacres:
- Al Zara Massacre, Homs (15 July): 7 people from the reconciliation team were summarily executed by pro-Assad popular committees.
- Al Qaboun Massacre, Damascus (18 July): 4 shepherds were summarily executed along with their stock.
- Al Dablan Massacre, Homs (19 July): A school where civilians have taken refuge was shelled leaving large unconfirmed numbers of civilians dead.
- Saraqib Massacre, Idlib (19-20 July): 15 martyrs. The town was bombarded with cluster and phosphorus bombs.
- Ariha Massacre, Idlib (21 July): 22 martyrs and dozens wounded.
- Al Bayda Massacre, Banias (21 July): 13 martyrs including women and children.
- Al Yarmouk Palestinian Camp Massacre, Damascus (21 July): 22 martyrs. Chemical toxic gas was used.
- Al Sukhnah Massacre, countryside of Homs (26 July): 17 martyrs were slaughtered with knives and burnt alive by Assad’s forces.
The Syrian Coalition renews its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards protecting Syrian civilians and putting an end to Assad’s continued infringement of international conventions.
The free world needs to stop Assad’s crimes and support the Syrian people’s Revolution in order for the Syrian people to achieve their aspirations of freedom and dignity.
