8 militants killed in air strikes in NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 18, IRNA – Eight militants were killed and seven others injured when Pakistani fighter jets targeted militants hideouts in north western tribal region on Thursday, media reports said.

 

According to reports the incident took place in Zawa area of Tirah Tehsil in Khyber tribal area.

 

Four militant hideouts were also destroyed in the strikes, according to security sources.

 

Two civilians were also killed and four others were injured in the attack that also damaged two houses in the vicinity.

 

Tirah Valley has been under the influence of various militant factions, including Lashkar-e-Islam (LI), TTP, and Ansarul Islam, who constantly target each other over territorial disputes, while the residents of the valley have little contact with the outside world.
