Fourteen Killed as the Assad Regime Hits School in Raqqa

Istanbul, Turkey.-The Syrian Coalition urges the need for intensified international efforts aimed at stopping the Assad regime from using conventional and unconventional weapons against the Syrian people.

This morning at 8 am, Assad's air force carried out a strike on Ibn Tufayl secondary school in Raqqa killing at least 14 people and injuring dozens. Many of the wounded are in critical condition.

The strike came as students gathered in the schoolyard early Sunday morning, the first day of the school year. The remains of students were scattered as limbs of students who were full of hope and keen to start the new school year could be seen everywhere.

It has become apparent that Assad will use all types of weapons as long as is allowed to continue his mass slaughter of the Syrian people. We will never forget that the regime’s use of weapons against Syrians which vary from live rounds used to kill and deter peaceful protests, to the usage of mortar shells, ballistic missiles, explosive barrels, and the recently used Sarin gas.

Thousands of peaceful civilians have died under torture. Thousands of innocent men women and children continue to be slaughtered with knives. Hundreds of thousands have starved and are currently facing starvation in Gouta and other areas across Syria. For the Syrian people, the end is the same regardless of the means. If the Assad regime is not restrained, they will continue its genocide of the Syrian people as they continue to face all forms of death.
