Istanbul/Turkey.-The Syrian Coalition urges battalions fighting in Northern Syria to acknowledge the criticalness of the current stage of the Syrian Revolution and to exercise restraint to ensure the safety of civilians and secure the release of detainees.

The Syrian Coalition stresses that protecting civilians is a top priority. The legitimacy of taking up arms is directly linked to adhering to the goals and guiding principles of the revolution. Fighting against Assad’s militias and shabiha are the sole combative objectives of the Syrian revolution.

The Syrian Coalition emphasizes the need for all fighting battalions in Northern Syria to refrain from instigatory actions of all kinds. The Syrian Coalition further warns against using the current crisis in Syria to pursue other political agendas. The Syrian people will determine their own fate.
