On the Seige in Al Qaboun and Al Barzeh Damascus

Lebanon.-After six months of continuous siege, military checkpoints and the recent support from Hezbollah, the neighborhoods of Al Qaboun and Al Barzeh, Damascus are at risk.  The lives of 40,000 civilians are suffering with a lack of food and medical supplies.

The Syrian Coalition fears that these two areas will be raided which will lead to another massacre.  These continued massacres by the Assad regime are committed to suppress the revolution for freedom.

The Syrian Coalition reminds the international community once again of its responsibility towards the Syrian people as Assad’s regime continues to commit grave crimes against Syrians who struggle for basic freedoms. Calls to international community are being made to protect a civilian population against the Syrian regime who continues to violate international conventions. We also urge the international community to support the revolution by preventing further bloodshed and defending the civilian population by arming the Free Syrian Army.

Statement on the Latest Humanitarian Efforts

The Syrian Coalition thanks all nations for their commitment of $1.5 Billion towards Syrian humanitarian relief efforts.  The aid will be distributed through the Syrian Coalition's affiliated institutions and in coordination with ACU.

The Syrian Coalition confirms that it will accept any political solution which puts a stop to continued bloodshed.  Political solutions should achieve goals of justice, the toppling of the Assad regime, and the establishment of a true democracy.

The Assad regime is guilty of killing civilians through its use of chemical weapons and fighter jet shellings.  It has made it clear that Assad and his war machine are guilty of terrorism in Syria. It has therefore become the responsibility of the international community to combine their efforts to fight such terrorism in order to establish lasting peace in Syria.

The Syrian Coalition calls on the United Nations to renew their commission of inquiry on the use of chemical weapons in Syria, as well as to travel to liberated areas to evaluate the soil samples for confirmation of Assad’s usage of chemical weapons.
