ehran, May 25, IRNA – Senior Foreign Ministry official said Saturday that Russia and China would attend a meeting on Syria slated for May 29 in the Iranian capital.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told IRNA in an exclusive interview that countries with different stands on Syrian crisis were also invited to the meeting including Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
He added the invitations were made in line with Tehran?s policy of encouraging regional cooperation to help settle the Syrian crisis.
?Iran welcomes participation of representatives from the three countries however it is up to them to accept or reject the invitations,? Amirabdollahian said commenting on the possibility of participation of the Turkish, Qatari and Saudi officials in the May 29 meeting.
He said the meeting is to be held based on Tehran?s approach to find a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis and put an end to the ongoing violence in that country.
Touching upon the present situation in Bahrain, Amirabdollahian said international efforts should be made to stop violence in Bahrain and conduct a national dialogue to resolve the mounting dispute in that country.
