Unidentified gunmen injure 10 in SW Pakistan

Islamabad, July 15, IRNA – Unidentified gunmen on Saturday injured ten persons including a member of a political party in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta, local media reported.

 

According to reports strike was being observed in Quetta against the bomb blast at Awami National Party (ANP) rally that killed six persons on Friday.

In the same backdrop, the ANP workers were passing through a road when unknown gunmen opened fire on them.

As a result of firing, ten persons including party workers were injured who were shifted to civil hospital.

Later, other ANP workers reached the hospital and chanted slogans against police and administration while they also manhandled police and FC personnel.

The ANP has announced to observe a shutter down strike for Saturday and three days mourning in Balochistan.

Several parties including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), Jamiat Nazriyati, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), Balochistan National Party (BNP), Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), PML-Quaid and Jamaat-i-Islami have supported the strike call.

All businesses as well as traffic remained at a halt during the strike.
