New Delhi, July 12, IRNA -- A powerful bomb went off at a labour camp early Thursday in a remote coal mining village in the Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya state, killing a young man and injuring nine miners.
The police said the blast took place at Rasong village under Khliehriat sub-division at around 0200 hours IST (Indian Standard Time), leaving a crater about one foot deep at the site.
A young man 26 years of age, hailing from Assam, was killed on the spot while the injured were shifted to the nearest hospital in a critical condition.
The police did not rule out involvement of militants or mine owners in the blast and said a formal inquiry would reveal the truth.
